still working on refinishing iron bed frame?

sajaru316 Question : I’m still working on finishing iron bed frame? I’m stripping antique iron frame with medium to fine steel wool. What should I use to buff or polish to ensure that all small grains is off? How smooth does it need to be before I paint? I’ll use a rustoleum “oil painting base. Do I need to sand between coats? Answer by Lady Beatrice > You just need to take away enough to be sure that all the fine details visible (filled with old paintings), the smoothness is especially important on the flatter areas. You should not have to sand between coats, unless a drip dry, but make sure to apply very light (thin) coat without drips (wipe the drops) and give at least 2 or 3 very thin layers.
